Vancouver Man To Compete in World Series of Mahjong
Jim Kwong will be one of many players competing in the upcoming World Series of Mahjong in Macau on September 18th. Kwong competed in the second annual Mahjong Charity Open at the River Rock Casino Resort last month and won first place, which gave him a seat to the World Series Event.

Kwong commented that he saw an advertisement for the Charity event and entered to support the charity, never dreaming he would win. The Charity event took six hours to complete and Kwong had to defeat 255 other players before he could claim the win.

Kwong commented that he is excited to go to Mahjong but nervous at the same time because he has not played in so long. Kwong will meet fierce competition in Macau as competitors come from all around the world to compete for the US $1 million first place prize.

Besides the $1 million first place prize, second place will be earning $500,000. Prizes will start at $5,000 and go up to the massive $1 million prize. the entry fee to the competition is $5,000 so if players can make it to at least the last prize they will earn their fee back.
