Mahjong Debt Leads Man to Attempt Murder
We all know that addiction can lead people to do crazy things. People addicted to gambling have done it all. From selling their possessions, lying to their spouse or robbing to pay off their debts, the addiction can lead to it all. One man in China tried to kill his wife to settle his outstanding gambling debt. Li is addicted to gambling on mahjong and he owes around $27,200 or 186,000 Yuan. The debt is from multiple mahjong games. Li never told his wife about the large gambling debt he owed and to repay the debt Li thought it would be a good idea to sell their properties.
To keep from telling his wife of his plan to sell the property, Li tried to kill her. Not once but twice. While walking with his wife on the river in the Jilin province, Li tried to kill his wife. On January 6th Li pretended to play a game with his wife and then attempted to strangle the life from her.
Li’s wife called the police and he was arrested for attempted murder. Li was planning on taking total possession of their properties and then selling them to pay for the mahjong debt. Now he will be spending his time in jail.
